The Southern section of Metro line 3 has been under reconstruction since March 2019. Work is expected to be done by this fall. Check out how the newly revamped stations will look like.
Hvg noticed that BKV revealed a bunch of photos of the potential layouts of the revamped stations of Metro line 3. If everything goes according to plans, the Southern stations will be open to the public this fall.
The reconstruction of line 3 connecting the Northern and Southern districts on the Pest side of the city started in November 2017. As Daily News Hungary reported earlier, the revamped Northern section of Budapest’s metro line 3 started operation in March 2019.

Right after the Northern section was completed, work began on the Southern part of the metro line. The Southern stations of Metro line 3 have been under a revamp since March 2019, and they are expected to be finished by the fall of 2020. The stations in question are Népliget, Ecseri út, Pöttyös utca and Határ út.

According to the statements of BKV, the main objective was the mechanical and aesthetic renewal and refurbishment of the passenger areas and to create a brand-new look specific to the metro line, while partially retaining the unique character of the stations.
